As an Accountant, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the daily operations of the accounting and finance functions for Landing AI and The AI Fund.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Manage the daily operations of accounting and finance activities.
- Review monthly and quarterly financial reporting, coordinate with U.S. office during their review of Colombia books and consolidation of financial statements.
- Assist with budget and forecast analysis and expense allocation analysis, and monitor and analyze accounting data.
- Maintain financial reporting processes and ensure compliance with US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Assist with annual audit and tax return process.
- Support in the daily operations of the Colombia office and some administrative tasks including: Selecting and managing company vendors, keeping inventory, ordering, and restocking office supplies, snacks, and hardware. You will also help on other ad-hoc administrative tasks such as travel arrangements or company events.

Successful innovation in maritime shipping requires strong relationships within the industry, something we have built by partnering with several of the world’s leading shipping companies.

You will be ultimately responsible for all aspects of growing the company from a pre-seed startup. By working with Shipping.ai, you will play a leading role in a company at the forefront of bringing AI to the industry enabling our global economy.  

The Machine Learning Engineer at Shipping will be responsible for leading ML development of the MVP and proof of concept projects for Shipping. You will be working closely with clients and the team to quickly execute and iterate on the product vision on the path to product market fit.  You will play an integral role in shaping the ultimate product, and also serve as a mentor to the team on best practices for running a machine learning project from a research stage to production and deployment.

Here’s what you will do:

  • Lead technology development and AI architecture design. Make decisions on key AI, ML, and DL architecture for the Shipping product. In addition to Python proficiency and a demonstrable ability to write and maintain medium-sized software codebases, you will be responsible for selecting and applying specific technologies (anomaly detection, supervised learning, CNN/RNN architectures, preprocessing steps, what type of data and labels to collect) as well as designing the overall AI system architecture. These decisions will be made primarily in the context of building an accurate and robust prototype model of fuel consumption for vessels in a 6 week period. Further, these decisions should take into account deployment issues and how best to deploy models in production. As you will be developing a novel product, a thorough understanding of advanced ML concepts backed by a proven track record of designing and delivering ML solutions in industry and/or academia will be critical to the success of our proof of concept projects. Given the novel nature of the product, research experience is preferred but not required. As the model will be used to simulate results under different conditions, experience with APIs and basic simulation techniques is strongly preferred but not required.

  • Act as a technical lead for projects. You must be able to help lead small project teams to tackle technically challenging problems in terms of the machine learning and data perspectives. You must be able to select the correct direction in terms of what architecture to use for different problems and how to deal with and organize the data for model training and evaluation. In addition you are expected to be able to communicate engineering effort and issues to the business team and work with them to best help fit the partner/customer needs. You should have strong technical and non-technical communication skills and display an ability to convey complex technical topics to non-technical people without machine learning background. You will likely join meetings with our partners and correspond with their engineering teams, and may also travel to our partner offices to help with implementation. Enterprise experience may be helpful here.

  • Quickly master technical and non-technical industry specifics. Maritime shipping is an industry full of tribal knowledge. It will be critical for you to ramp up on terminology and functions that are specific to the shipping and develop a holistic understanding of the industry. This may include understanding engine function, the impact of physical ship characteristics on fuel performance, the importance of weather patterns, and why industry incentives could cause specific data patterns to appear. You should be excited about throwing yourself into learning these technical and non-technical industry characteristics.

  • (Bonus)Manage Machine Learning Engineers (MLE). This is not necessarily a management role, but someone who is able to manage an MLE team in the future as the team grows in the coming year would be a significant plus. You must be able to play a very strong tech lead role at the least.

The Senior Recruiter at AI Fund Colombia will own and execute hiring the first team members of every startup which is part of the aifund.ai and portfolio of investments. As a Colombia and LATAM recruiting expert, you’ll be a critical part of finding and hiring A+ engineers, business team members, and more. In return you’ll work with top global team members to expand your hiring skills and learn firsthand how a top-notch AI startup scales.

Here’s what the role entails:

  • Bring a sophisticated understanding of the Colombia/LATAM region to AI Fund´s hiring. In your first month on the job you’ll work to evolve our location-aware approach to recruiting, ensuring our outbound messages maintain 70%+ open rates and 50%+ reply rates. You’ll fully uncover and use the right tactics to reach the best candidates in Latin America. In the first 3 months, your outreach campaigns and changes to current interview processes should deliver a 7% increase in interviews conversion and run tests in other key LATAM regions to gauge talent quality and interest to relocate to Colombia.

  • Identify and engage top candidates. Because we are scaling fast, you’ll need to source at least 30 A+ candidates a week and research jobs which you may not have worked on before. You’ll create reusable sourcing approaches relying on Linkedin, boolean, and direct social media outreach. Further you may need to coach each hiring manager and localize the job description so terms are relevant in LATAM. 

  • Work with hiring managers and decision makers to balance hiring priorities and timelines. We have a growing number of different teams within our organization requesting help with hiring in Colombia. You’ll need to set clear deliverables and keep each talent funnel and subsequent interviews flowing smoothly. You find comfort filling positions on fast timelines but know when and how to set realistic time-to-fill expectations with the team based on informed data. Whenever possible you’ll negotiate time with hiring teams to review applicants and interviewing responsibilities so you can maintain a delightful and an un-bottlenecked hiring ecosystem.

  • Act as point of contact for candidates; coordinate, schedule, and manage interview schedules as well as travel and accommodation arrangements when required. The goal is to ensure a positive candidate experience by making sure everyone is in the right place at the right time.
  • Use our applicant tracking system and relevant recruiting processes to stay organized and keep our busy team on track.Keep track of the recruiting pipeline and generate weekly reports to reflect the status of the hiring process.
  • Represent our team: You will often be the first person a candidate meets when they come to our office. You must be able to represent our startup culture and have a great service oriented attitude to everyone you interact with.
  • Communicate effectively with the recruiting committee on a daily basis in order to keep recruiting operations running smoothly.

Here’s the background we’d like you to have:

  • Obsessed with candidate experience: we see our candidates as our guests, and we are their hosts. It is the Coordinator's job to ensure a smooth and positive interview experience. Detail oriented, highly organized, and process oriented. An excellent communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Able to take initiative and have the tact  to keep interviews running on time, and follow up with all parties to provide feedback to/from candidates. Previous recruiting coordination experience in a high volume environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office/Google products.
  • Experience with some ATS tool is preferred.
  • Great interpersonal skills with a service-oriented attitude. High energy individual while staying mature and composed under pressure.
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent.
