While earning an economics degree at UC Berkeley, Francisco Tran had an unusual side hustle: pursuing an accounting degree at Foothill College in his spare time. “I really liked how accounting applies to all fields of business,” he says. “So I decided to enroll myself and just take the time to learn more.”
That drive to learn carried into his career at KPMG, where Francisco worked in a dual-path role spanning both audit and accounting advisory. He thrived on the advisory side, where engagements demanded building solutions from scratch rather than following established templates. One of his most significant projects involved supporting a major AI infrastructure company’s pre-IPO process. His audit experience spans tech and AI companies, including work on semiconductor and SaaS engagements.
“I thrive in fast-paced environments and take initiative,” Francisco explains. “If I see something that needs to be done or want to learn a new skill, I jump in and do it.”
At AI Fund, Francisco supports the finance team’s operations, bringing his technical accounting foundation and appetite for new challenges to the organization’s portfolio of AI ventures. Outside of work, he’s a dedicated bodybuilder, ice hockey player, and self-described matcha connoisseur.
