Nikhil Sharma
Assistant General Counsel
Nikhil Sharma is Assistant General Counsel for AI Fund, providing comprehensive counsel on legal issues and ensuring legal compliance in the ever-changing tech space. In his role he advises AI Fund and founders on all stages of company formation, from formation to VC funding to exit.
Growing up in the Bay Area, Nikhil knew from a young age that he wanted to be a lawyer for technology companies. “My parents, grandmother and brother are software engineers, and I grew up in Silicon Valley surrounded by all things technology. The energy and intensity of the space draws you in. I think tech invites a lot of novel and interesting legal questions.” After earning a bachelor’s in political science from UCLA, he set his sights on law school and returned home to Silicon Valley. He holds a law degree from U.C. Berkeley School of Law.
Nikhil’s legal career began at the U.S. Department of Justice as a paralegal in the Antitrust Division for four years. “Trying to understand how to apply antiquated legal architecture to emerging technology is what drew me to the Antitrust Division,” says Nikhil.
Following law school, Nikhil worked for six years as a Corporate Associate at Fenwick & West LLP where he served as outside corporate counsel to dozens of venture-backed companies counseling them through formation, successive rounds of financing and their exits, including several mergers and IPOs.
A true son of the Valley, you can find Nikhil at a 49ers or Giants game outside of the office. Other passions include cocktail mixology, road biking, and photography.
