Ryan Howard

Ryan Howard joins AI Fund as a Venture Advisor, bringing experience as a 2x founder and advisor for several startups across the healthtech sector.  

After building a career foundation with a variety of healthcare technology leaders, Ryan founded Practice Fusion in 2005. As CEO he grew the company into the largest electronic health record (EHR) platform for doctors and patients in the US, serving over 110 million patients, and bringing it to $50M in revenue and a $700M valuation. In 2016, he founded 100Plus, a remote patient monitoring platform with the mission of assisting seniors in monitoring a range of chronic health conditions.

Practice Fusion was acquired by Allscripts in 2018 and 100Plus was successfully acquired by Connect America in 2021.

Being a seasoned founder who has experienced the ups and downs in entrepreneurship himself, Ryan brings a wealth of knowledge to the table as a Venture Advisor with AI Fund.

Ryan also advises founders on the ins and outs of board structure and founder employment agreements to ensure founders can maintain control of the companies they start and see a positive financial outcome, regardless of their company’s ultimate end state.

“It’s really about balance and creating a structure that an investor is going to be comfortable with, but I want the founder to be fully informed and have a little more control than just going in blindly,” he says. “If you start and you’re informed, and you know how to manage your board and what’s appropriate, what’s not, then I think that there’s less opportunity for negative things to happen.”

Ryan has been recognized as a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum, one of the Top 40 under 40 by the San Francisco Business Times, one of the 100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs of 2013 by Goldman Sachs, and as one of the Silicon Valley Top 100 by Business Insider.

When not building new startups, Ryan enjoys spending time with his German Shepherd rescue dog and riding Ducati motorcycles.
